Abundance of global models and keeping track of parts of those

Since there are several well established climate models. Are we always chosing those closest to the mean of all models to be the most true?

Furthermore, how do we keep track of consistency in each tiny sub-part of a complex model. In other words, is there a person for each model to understand how it simulates physical processes entirely?
